First winner of Golf Writer of the Month Award

Global Golfer Magazine is proud to reveal the first-ever winner of its Golf Writer of the Month award.

Every month we choose the best reviews sent in by readers from their golfing travels and publish them in the Global Golfer E-magazine, which is mailed to golfers who have signed for the digital edition sent straight to their inbox.

Paul Atkinson from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne is a four handicap golfer and a member at Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club in County Durham.

Paul reviewed both the King’s and Queen’s Courses at Gleneagles following a golf trip with friends last winter.

Global Golfer editor, Matthew Moore, said: “It was quite clear from Paul’s reviews how much he loves golf and how passionate he was about the golf courses at Gleneagles.

He didn’t just focus on what he did in his own play, he captured the feel of that famous Perthshire sporting Estate and described hovering golden eagles, spectating deer, the hazards and the intelligence of the course design.”

Paul won a golf ball shaped miniature bottle of St Andrews Old Course Whisky and sent in this photograph of his prize.

“I really enjoyed reviewing the courses and it was fun to be a golf writer for a day.

It’s great to read magazines and websites with course reviews but it’s also good to hear what your everyday golfer thought of a course or a golf resort,” said Paul.

Anybody can write and send in reviews of their favourite golf courses to be published on Global Golfer, all you have to do is write 250-350 words and send in up to three pictures of the golf course to
