New links tour launches on Ireland’s West Coast

A new links golf tour has been launched on the West Coast of Ireland for golfers staying at the PGA National Ireland Slieve Russell resort.

The popular resort in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan, has joined forces with County Sligo Golf Club, Donegal Golf Club and Strandhill Golf Club to launch the ‘PGA National Ireland West Coast Links Tour‘.

Visitors can choose from three, four and five-round packages on the links golf tour.
Based at PGA National Ireland, the new breaks are available to golf groups of eight or more people and offer access to four 18-hole championship courses – three links and one parkland – with all four venues regularly ranked inside Ireland’s top 50 courses.

Prices start from €375 per person for two nights’ bed-and-breakfast and three rounds of golf, with three-night, four-round packages bookable from €540 per person.

Five-night, five round breaks – featuring two rounds of golf at PGA National Ireland and 18 holes at the other three courses – are on offer from €740 per person, while packages with the same number of rounds and an extra two nights are bookable from €895 per person.

All tour packages include four-star bed-and-breakfast hotel accommodation at PGA National Ireland and are based on two people sharing a room.

Located 90 minutes from Dublin and two hours from Belfast, PGA National Ireland’s championship course is rated among Ireland’s finest parkland courses and has hosted two European Tour events.

The course was ranked number one in Ulster in 2018.

County Sligo Golf Club – which is also known as Rosses Point – was designed by Harry Colt and is regarded as one of Ireland’s best links courses.

It is home to the West of Ireland Amateur Championship and has staged numerous high-profile tournaments including the Irish Open Amateur Championship.

Donegal’s par-73 layout offers magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean and Donegal Bay and has been described by some people as the ‘Muirfield of Ireland’, while Strandhill’s attractive par-70 course is regarded as being the epitome of golf along Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way.

Golfers taking the tour will enjoy a stay at the 222-bedroom, four-star hotel and its award winning spa and leisure facilities.
