In Focus: Thorpeness, Suffolk

In a tiny neuk of Suffolk, one of England’s most easterly counties, is a golf course overlooked by a mysterious house floating in the clouds.

It’s nothing unusual in Thorpeness, a seaside village of Mock Tudor buildings, which was first created in the 1920′s as a fantasy holiday destination and later inspired author J.M Barrie when creating his fictional ageless boy hero Peter Pan.

Thorpeness Golf Club is an 18-hole James Braid designed golf course measuring almost 6,300-yards with a par of 69 set back from the coast in heathland full of purple heather and gorse.
